Are you Ready for Typhoon Related Emergencies?

The Philippines has always been one of the top 10 places where typhoons are regular and the norm. Filipinos know for a fact that the country is constantly being battered by storm after storm after storm. There’s nothing that would faze the country more than a super typhoon that would be reported by typhoon Philippines today weather reports and see the path of destruction.

So while they are not fazed or scared with typhoons that is ready to batter their area, Filipinos do not underestimate what these typhoons can do. While they are not intimidated by strong winds and constant water dripping down their rooftops, they are also not oblivious to what they need to do. But in case you need a refresher on all things typhoon and what you need to prepare after hearing the Philippine weather today, here’s a guide on what to do and what to bring.

Necessities

In case of emergency evacuations due to storms and typhoons and areas, it is important to bring a “survival pack”. This pack should contain all the necessities that you would need to survive either for a day or even a week in the evacuation area. First, you have to understand that the evacuation centers in the Philippines is way different from the ones you see abroad. We’re not here to judge but the centers abroad are truly equipped with everything people will need for their stay. In the Philippines, due to lack of budget or problems with local government, people are relocated to basketball courts and are just given blankets.

To compensate for that horrendous condition, your pack needs to contain several articles of clothing, a good amount of canned goods, a first aid kit, blankets or anything to keep you warm and water. If you are traveling or evacuating as a family, it would be good to pack based on the number of family members. The best practice is also to divide everything neatly so that every member of the family has something to carry going into the evacuation center.

Listen to authorities

One of the reasons why people survive scary typhoons in the Philippines is because they listen to authorities. Of course there are still a few exemptions to the rule but generally speaking most Filipinos listen to police and evacuation volunteers. If these brave men and women appear in your doorstep before and during a typhoon, it would mean that its time to go and drop everything. Your life is more important than your house.

Stock Up

Not all typhoons would require you to flee your home. There are some that will just require you to stay indoors and be ready for anything. If that would be the case and there’s no warning from the local government, then just stay inside and stock up. If the warning is done before the bad weather hits, then you can make the necessary preparations and buy all the things that you would need. So what are some of the things you need? Skipping the “survival bag” we mentioned earlier, you also have to have a transistor radio, power banks to charge your devices, food and water. If there’s a family member that’s sick, be prepared with his or her medication. Be ready to stock up on those too.

Why Weather Reports Still Matter in the Summer

Philippine summers are known for being the worst times for Filipinos. It’s just hot and everybody can’t escape it. Whether you’re in Luzon or Visayas or Mindanao, you can be sure that the heat will follow you wherever you go. Despite all this though, its still important to have a sense of what the weather would be like and as such you need weather forecast today to be able to get an idea what the temperature could be.

While we all know that it would be sunny the whole day as long as its summer, there are still small things that you need to look out for. For starters, just because its summer doesn’t mean that its going to have a constant temperature. The truth is, summer temps can fluctuate. Filipinos have even developed a sense of humor over the climate and the temperature. While other countries say “its nice in the morning, ok in the afternoon and cold in the evening”, Filipinos during the summer time would usually comment that it’s “hot in the morning, hotter in the afternoon and hottest in the evening”. Although, just to be clear, that’s not always the case.

So you may be taking this lightly there’s an air of seriousness afoot when it comes to Philippine summers and the climate in general; and why its imperative that you check in on weather forecast Philippines from time to time.

Avoid Heat Related Injuries

One of the worst things that can happen to anybody during the summer is suffering from heatstroke. In a nutshell, your body shuts down because of the heat that you body has absorbed. There’s an entire scientific explanation for that but that would take a while. So, again, heat stroke can be deadly if not taken seriously. This is the reason why during heatwaves in other countries, the homeless people or the vagrants are gathered up by local authorities and are given a temporary place to spend the day away from the deadly heat. Checking the weather forecast would give you an idea on how much long you can stay under the sun before you get sick from all the sunshine bombarding your body.

Temperature Related Things

You need to check the weather forecast for you to be able to make sound decisions for your business. If you own a bunch of different business establishments that react to heat, then you may need to keep the climate and temperature in constant check. If you have an ice cream business, you need to prepare for extreme heat especially if you have people selling icicles and popsicles in various areas. The same thing also happens when you run a fruit business or any business that will require a person to stand in the heat for long periods of time. We really don’t want people passing out from all the heat or worse, suffering from sunstroke.

Photography has always been a big thing not just in the Philippines but for the rest of the world. There’s just something about photos that speaks to a person’s soul or delivers so much words without actually speaking anything. Don’t be so Dismissive About Weather Reports

The weather forecast today in the Philippines can be a tricky subject to deal with. During the rainy seasons and monsoon season, many people easily dismiss the weather reports because of inaccuracies and wrong forecast. It’s actually happened many times in the past. Weather forecast gets reported on big television networks and government offices then use these reports to determine whether classes should be suspended or press on. The humorous thing is when the cancellation of classes for all levels gets enacted, that’s when the weather decides to act differently. Its been the subject of a lot of criticism and a lot of ridicule in the past. However, it should not deter you from listening to the weather reports for your area.

As much as possible, don’t be dismissive about the weather forecasts because it does a lot more good than bad. There’s a hundred different reasons why you shouldn’t be dismissive about the whole thing. This article will help you understand why you shouldn’t underestimate the reports given about the weather.

It Warns People during Rains

So while most people would laugh at the epic fails past weather forecasts have committed whenever they remember it, there’s still fairly a good amount of credence to these reports especially during the rainy seasons. Had the local authorities fail to listen or completely ignore the news during the path of destruction of Yolanda, there could have been more deaths and injuries that had happened. So while there was a big death toll during that tragic event, its still worth noting that there are a lot of lives that had been saved. And its all because the local government authorities took notice of the weather report Philippines and planned their next actions around the data that was fed and given to them.

It Raises Awareness for Rainy Days

Think of how many fishermen and travelers would have lost their lives at sea or any body of water during heavy rains if there were no weather reports that coast guards would use. This instance would occur not just locally but abroad as well. Because the weather can sometimes be fickle, its good to know that there are forecasts and predictions that people can use during their travels. Mariners benefit the most from these reports because they would also be able to evade danger and maritime problems like ship damage while at sea.

Avoids Temperature Sicknesses

Heat is also another problem that a lot of people face. Would you believe that more Filipinos are likely to suffer from problems related to heat. That’s because the Philippines has a lot of months that is dry and its also more likely to suffer from El Nino rather than La Nina. So it would naturally follow that problems like heatstroke or sunstroke could be a common problem for the people of the Philippines. Skin cancer isn’t as likely but it’s showing significant growth through the years. Pretty soon, there would be a lot of people who will be treated for skin cancer in the next 10 years or so.

Weather Updates for the Cosplaying Community

Cosplay and the whole community that thrives around it has a lot of things going for them. The men and women who consider themselves as the biggest anime fans will most likely be at the forefront of growing the cosplay community too. And if you’re not aware of what they do, you will find out here how great people within the cosplay community are and how much they depend on weather update in the Philippines just like you and me.
Cosplaying has been around for a long time. There’s no specific or actual date when cosplaying became a huge thing in the Philippines. And it would also be impossible to give a specific date too because there will be people who will claim this and that on the matter of the first cosplay. We do know that every year, there are a lot of new people joining the hobby and the community. As long as Japan produces new anime every season, you can bet your dollar that there will be new teenagers and young adults who will be attending conventions as their favorite anime characters.
The weather plays an important role in the cosplaying careers of these young men and women. Let’s all take a look at how the weather affects them. This would also give readers an idea of the importance of a reliable weather update.
Cosplayers gain more following through a number of ways, most of which will directly tie into the weather. Cosplayers connect to audiences whether fans or potential sponsors through photos that they circulate online. The photos are either sold as prints which they can sell through online avenues like Facebook and other social media platforms. The traditional way of selling also comes into full effect whenever there’s a big convention in the works. So having the idea of what the weather would be like on the day of the event will factor in with how many materials they need to bring. If its going to be a rainy day, then they would opt to bring a small number along with their costumes.
Another angle that needs to be examined is the photography. We mentioned earlier that cosplayers grows their personal brand and audience through their output. Output would mean the content that they share online. This would include photos that, as mentioned previously, is sold and shared in conventions. To pull it off, they need to be able to get some good photos taken.
Photos taken for cosplayers are usually equal in terms of location. Some prefer to get their photos taken indoors while others go for outdoor shoots. Problem is, the weather can be very challenging. Its not always about rain showers that can be a challenge. Other times, it would have to be about the lighting. Even if the cosplayer is working with a skilled photographer, it won’t mean much if the weather isn’t cooperative.

If they also arrange for a shoot, its also important to check the weather. Cosplaying relies heavily on camaraderie and friendship and the best way to exercise this is through group cosplay shoots outdoors. If they would be able to see the forecasts, they would know if the event can push through or not.
